The purpose of this site is to offer me the chance to write about issues that are on my mind. Some of these may be political and relatively important and some will be pure whimsy. Some will be about the environment and some about climate change. I’ll try to write with a style that is easy on the reader and to inject humor whenever possible. The language level for this site will be at the high school to college level. Not much is written at that high a level in our society now.
I will try very hard not to preach, but the political position for this site will be progressive. I probably will not use the term “liberal” too often because I believe in the progressive slate of policies and approaches and I think that Democrats have not done an adequate job of presenting that agenda to the voters. We’ve allowed “liberal” to be a label of shame from St. Ronnie until now.
There will be a weekly essay, called “This Week in Dystopia” that will highlight the most grievous acts of Our Leader over the past week. I will continue that posting for the entire 4 years or at least until they show up at my door and haul me away. If they do, some sort of vigil or march or something would be nice, if you think of it and it’s not raining.
ME
I am a public health scientist, who is mostly retired now, but still does some consulting. I spent 33 years at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) (I still hate adding that “and Prevention” to the title) and almost 3 more at Research Triangle Institute.
As with most scientists, I have been writing continually throughout my career and I missed the opportunity to write once I retired. Politics has been my hobby since my 20’s and with the cataclysmic November election results, I wanted to find my voice. So I created this site. My essays will be factual and my positions will be researched. You may not agree with my positions, but my goal is that you will not find me to be error prone.
I currently live in the Sun Coast of Florida with my wife and dog. Currently only one dog, but that is always subject to change.
My hope is that people visiting this site will be informed and entertained. I hope you are and that you will come back regularly.
